How does tool hire work on Rentoodle?
Pick the tool and the dates you need, then book. New hirers verify their identity once, which costs £2, and there is no platform fee on top of the price the owner has set. The owner either posts the tool by tracked delivery to arrive on your start date or arranges a local collection time with you. You return it the same way at the end of the hire.
Can I collect instead of paying for delivery?
Yes, if the listing offers it. Many tool owners prefer local collection because a mitre saw or a scaffold tower is awkward to post. Once the booking is confirmed you message the owner through Rentoodle to agree a place and a time, then hand the tool back the same way. Collection also means you can see the tool and ask how it runs before you take it away.
What if a tool is damaged while I have it?
Tell the owner as soon as it happens. As the hirer you are responsible for the tool while it is with you, so you are liable for repair or replacement. Behind that, every booking is covered by the Lender Guarantee up to £30,000, which protects the owner if a hirer does not put things right. Fair wear from normal use is expected and is not treated as damage.
